Programming and Funding Request Form
The South Asia Center (SAC) is a National Resource Center of the U.S. Department of Education. Our mission is to enhance the study of South Asia (India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, and the Maldives) at Penn and within the wider community. The Center supports faculty and student research, conferences, curriculum development, outreach, and other activities and events related to modern and pre-modern South Asia. The Center connects scholars with interests in South Asia across the Humanities, Social Sciences, and Penn’s professional schools, and beyond. SAC programming and outreach draws upon disciplinary approaches in the humanities, social sciences, and professional schools. Our programs incorporate and respect fully the different disciplines, languages, regional viewpoints, and religious and cultural traditions of the region. We share a diverse range of perspectives and encourage public dialogue on crucial issues in South Asia and the world. SAC does not endorse any group or represent any political point of view. We do not act as an advocacy organization or cosponsor advocacy events or initiatives. Our programs are committed to inclusivity and respectful dialog of diverse perspectives. We are unable to fund proposals that do not include significant South Asia content, as defined above. If you have questions about the suitability of your program, please contact us prior to submitting your proposal.
Please use the application link below to submit your proposal. Proposals range from small one-off events and projects to larger-scale programs and events. If we agree to fund your project, we will require a short report describing the results, participation, and significance of the event/ program. We encourage the inclusion of online and/or recorded components as an element of all public events.
