
Penn's Department of South Asia Studies is pleased to welcome Dr. Margrit Pernau of the Center for the History of Emotions, Max Planck Institute for Human Development as Senior Visiting Scholar during February and March, 2016.
During her residency, Dr. Pernau will deliver a series of six public lectures on "The History of Emotions in the South Asian Context".
Talks in the series are titled as follows:

February 23: Emotion Concepts: From Medieval Legacy to Modern Journalism
March 1: Tahzib ul Akhlaq and the Negotiation of the Civilizing Mission
March 15: The Begums of Bhopal: Three Generations of Advice to Women
March 22: Kanpur 1913: Feeling Passionately for the House of God
March 29: Modernity, Discipline and Emotions
All talks will be held on Tuesdays at 4:30 PM in Williams Hall, Room 826, February 16 through March 29, 2016. The talks are free and open to the public.
